The Face of a Winner

Remember my blog's 3rd anniversary contest

I know I already announced the winners in an earlier post,  but I'm writing this post to put a face to the name.

Winners were chosen using an online randomizer and here they are in order:

Chat received a Tillandsia harrisii which is featured in "Fire in the Sky" .

Here is Baby with her clump of Tillandsia ionantha var. vanhyningii.  This species is from the limestone cliffs of the Rio Grijalva canyon in the state of Chiapas in southeastern Mexico.  Its leaves are a pale green but blush peach to pink when it blooms.

The lone male winner is Voltaire who also got the lone Agave prize - an Agave lopantha.  More specifically known as Agave lopantha Schiede, because it is synonymous to A. univittata Haworth and A. heteracantha Zuccarini among others.  This species is from the sandy hills of the Rio Grande Valley in Texas and extending to Veracruz in Mexico.

Take care of the plants, green thumb or otherwise.  Congratulations again and I hope to still see you in my futre contests.
