The 10 Things I Like To Do:
I like to chase plants. This deserves first place given the
title of this blog. I enjoy looking for unusual and uncommon plants and I enjoy the challenge of growing them. I enjoy learning about my plants, finding out what they need such as sun and water requirements. As for this part, it also helps that I like to monitor extreme weather conditions. I am keen on checking the weather, especially tropical storms and typhoons. This involves checking the satellite images and tracking of the different weather stations. Of course I also enjoy it when the weather is calm because I get to do the other thing I like. I like to play tennis. I usually play on the shell courts of the various tennis clubs of which I am a member. Unfortunately, I have not been able to play as much as I'd like this past month because of my tennis elbow. Too much stress on the joint. I may just shift to a less joint/bone jarring activity that I also like. Scuba diving. The scenery underwater is entirely different. Just like tennis, I don't get to dive as much as I used to. There was a time when I would go diving monthly. This was when my kids were younger and my wife and I could bring them with us and they wouldn't complain about not being able to dive with us. My weekends nowadays are rarely spent on the courts or underwater. I love bonding with my family. The children are growing up so fast so every moment we can spend with them is really something to be cherished. They stay with me while I garden. My daughter enjoys watching and identifying the insects that my plants attract. My son enjoys going with me on trips to look for my plants. They both have their own tillandsias, chosen and cared for by them (with my help). Aside from gardening with my kids, we also cook and bake. I like to cook. I specialize in local dishes but can whip up some international dishes as well. The kids love to help me because we pretend to have a cooking show. We have our favorite dishes which are our regular food but we also like to eat out. I love to eat and so does the rest of my family. We relish trying new restaurants, popular or obscure, budget-friendly or fancy. We savor all kinds of food, familiar or exotic, home-cooked or otherwise, plant or animal, you name it. The mostexotic food we've tried were eaten on out of town trips. I love to travel. My family and I take great pleasure in going to new places, experiencing different cultures, meeting new people, tasting new cuisines. Traveling also lets me enjoy airplane rides. I like watching airplanes. I haven't reached the point of flying a plane yet but I did work in the commercial airline industry specializing in aviation law. There were times when the work could get really stressful. In those times, I would turn to books when I got home. You see, I like to read because it helps me relax. The books let my mind wander and let my imagination take flight so that I forget about the pressures and worries of work. Just like what chasing plants does for me.
Oh, did I mention this? I like to chase plants.
